Hunter EMS is part of the Hunter Ambulance family of services, providing medical transportation to the New York Metropolitan area since 1982. We offer a full range of medical transportation services ranging from the most advanced high-risk critical care emergency transports such as intra-aortic balloon pump to BIVAD (Bi-Ventricular Assist Device) and neonatal patients requiring cardiac surgical intervention, to non-emergency services, including pre-scheduled admissions and discharges, transportation to or from doctor's offices and nursing homes, as well as dialysis, radiation and physical therapy treatment centers.
In addition to state-of-the-art medical transportation, we provide a one of a kind communications center to coordinate transportation to meet your needs at no added cost but significant benefit to our customers. To meet the specific needs of individual hospitals, a Transportation Coordinator can be located on site at the hospital for the planning and management of all patient transportation for that facility. This superior coordination together with instantaneous mobile communications between crews and dispatchers allow us to provide the very best in patient transportation services.
But why should you choose Hunter EMS and what distinguishes Hunter EMS from other medical transportation providers?
Our difference is that we are family owned and hands-on operated for almost thirty years. When you call us, it's like calling a family member ... not a corporate stranger. Everyone on our staff treats every call as if a member of their own family is on the other end of the line. No amount of technological expertise or large departmental bureaucracy can substitute for a business run by people who care about the clients they serve.
As soon as you pick up the phone, you become part of the Hunter family ... so call.
As most of you must know by now, we are constantly looking at ways for Hunter to continue to be the finest medical transportation provider in the metropolitan area. We want our growth to be carefully controlled, so that we can continue to provide our clients with the finest care, offer the most professional service available, and ensure that we maintain the levels of excellence that has allowed us to grow. With all of this in mind, we have acquired Medical Express, and are thrilled to welcome them into the Hunter family.
As you read this, the new staff is going through our rigorous training program; vehicles are being retrofitted with the Hunter name; all IT programs will be incorporated into our systems; and in a very short time we will have grown to be bigger and better than ever before.
What is so heartwarming for us is the way in which everyone has been able to adapt to these changes and offer so much help to our new members. All of us, at one point in our lives, have experience the first day of work. We want to thank all of you for making our new members feel welcome in the family. We are confident, as the years go by, that we will be able to welcome many new people to the Hunter family as we continue to grow.
The economy continues to affect how each of us lives our lives on a day-to-day basis. We, at Hunter, are fortunate that we can provide opportunities for many people through our continuing efforts to make Hunter the leader in our field. As we have always maintained, any organization is only as good as the people who work in that company. All of you old timers have set the bar very high for our new staff, and that is why we have been able to maintain the professional levels that we are known for, as we move forward.
Spring is here and is always a time of new growth and we are very fortunate, in these times, to bloom so well.

Recently, Hunter had the privilege of providing ambulance transportation to Nico, a well deserving 19 year old young man battling lung disease, from Jericho, Long Island so that he could enjoy his first NY Knicks game at Madison Square Garden. At 18 months, Nico was diagnosed with an extremely rare, currently unnamed chromosomal disorder affecting his breathing. As one of two children in the world with this particular disorder, the endless road to recovery is daunting. Nico has spent most of his life in and out of hospitals with over 18 surgeries, yet despite all of this, he continues to stay positive and smiles through it all.
Today, Nico struggles to breathe and uses a ventilator 24/7. He will eventually need a double lung transplant. Unfortunately his immune system is not strong enough to withstand such a drastic surgery. Despite his daily challenges, his personal goal is to help other families in similar situations. With the support of his mom, they have established Paving Pathways for Tomorrow, a foundation to help families with children who have debilitating diseases gain access to medical information and economic support. Excited about the possibilities, they cannot wait to get started helping others with their inspiring act to spread awareness and aid to families with children who are impacted by incapacitating diseases.
Inspired by witnessing Nico's overwhelming response to his day out, Hunter is excited to announce our new program, Care in Motion. Throughout 2016, Hunter will work with our healthcare communities in a collaborative effort to identify children in need and provide pro bono medical transportation and care to children.
We wish you a Happy and Healthy Holiday Season and look forward to sharing more from our Care in Motion program in 2016.
